One of the perks of any visit to Cornwall is the ready accessibility to wintering Great Northern Divers, especially along the south coast. Three seen outside Looe harbour at the weekend. Would love to find one on the Severnside patch, now I'm back home #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

What a difference a day makes. Stunning scenery in the sunshine on the north Cornwall coast on Saturday, only for rain to reassert itself at Looe today. Great Northern Diver & Eider off Hannafore Point made braving the soggy murk worthwhile #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

When the rain finally stopped and the sun came out, I was able to enjoy a cracking 1st winter Yellow-legged Gull on the in-coming tide at Hannafore Point. Great views of a couple of adult Med Gulls and a superb Firecrest in the wooded corner as the sun dipped #ukbirding #birdingCornwall

Not as busy as yesterday but great seabirds, spectacular sky and lively sea. At least 8000 auks and 1200 Kittiwakes through.

Can’t really say it was quiet at Pendeen with 25,000 Manx Shearwater past in 1:30 hrs first thing, but otherwise 7 Stormie. Not a surprise little else considering the strong easterly breeze #birdingCornwall

This close-up image shows a moulting chiffchaff with ruffled feathers, perched on a branch. The bird has a delicate beak and dark eyes, with blurred green foliage and red berries in the background.
