With regret, I'm going to need to DNF Black Marxism for now. This book assumes a knowledge of economics and communist theory that I simply don't have.
What I've read so far is fascinating, but I know I'm only getting a tenth of what Robinson is saying. Hopefully I'll be able to come back to it later
First time hearing the development of capitalism through a Marxist lens. We're only up to the late Middle Ages so far, but still pretty damn interesting.
The introduction to Black Marxism lays out the general course the main text will take. Contrary to the title, (and confirming my expectations) not about black marxists but about contrasting Marxism and Black Radicalism so that "a choice may be made." Looking forward to this.
Three prefaces for one book is a bit much.
The 2020 preface by Robinson had a fascinating discussiono f the relationship between Aristotle and Marx and the inherent elitism behind both.
Unfortunately, if the book reads like the preface I may be getting in over my head. Guess we'll see what happens.
First wish on my 👑 Book Collection:

The sub who provides… may earn a clip of me reading aloud.
Just a taste. ✨

En Europe, la lutte contre le capitalisme reste souvent considérée comme neutre sur le plan racial… Sur d’autres continents, le traitement marxiste des inégalités raciales est très différent. Entretien avec Anouk Essyad :

Cedric Robinson said it plain: racial capitalism wasn’t a glitch—it was the core code. Feudalism became colonialism. Colonialism became empire. Race was never separate from capital. It was its scaffolding. Ireland was step one. Africa was the jackpot. #BlackMarxism
