In an attempt to keep her safe the MC doesn't tell his girlfriend about what's going on. She finds out in the most traumatic way possible and it starts a big fight. In the end she walks away from him.

Spells are cast using language. All actual language is valid. (Though I do have an idea for a witch who casts in Pseudocode) So, you can cast a spell in Klingon if you're fluet, but you can't 'speak in tongues.'

I got the idea for a Snow White retelling where SW is predicted to be the downfall of her kingdom and a witch predicts this and manipulates herself into being SW's step mother to stop her.

For my first book, i named them right away. The names just came to me. The only name that escaped me was the villian in what will be my third book. I just knew it needed to be a 17th century French name.
