In Review – August 2025 * ~~Complete all the requirements for the**Community Builder Badge** during Blaugust 2025.~~ * ~~**In Review** & **Nerd Girl Goals** to bookend the month.~~ * Complete the monthly trading post goals in **World of Warcraft**. * ~~**Play at least 10 hours of single player games during August of 2025**.~~ * ~~Do the daily**Sexaginta-Quattuordle**.~~ * ~~Do the daily**Logic Town** challenge.~~ * Read or listen to at least **four books** during August. * ~~Watch at least 20 movies as part of my 100 Horror Movie project for 2025.~~ * ~~Put at least**4,000 stitches** into any of my current works-in-progress.~~ I actually managed to keep mostly on track for the goals I thought I would, and am thoroughly unsurprised at the ones I missed. I did re-up my World of Warcraft subscription for a month and never got past the character selection screen, so while that was a miss, it confirmed for me that I definitely had the right idea taking an extended break. I’m also still finding reading to be basically unappealing – less than idea, but considering how far behind I already was, not super upsetting either. * * * ### GAMING Now this is starting to look a little bit like being back to normal. Sure, I’m still not playing anything new, but at least I’m finding myself enjoying gaming again, even if it is just replaying some comfort games. #### Daily Puzzles Again, perfect month of puzzling (although some of my Logic Town times were dreadful). Sometimes, it’s the tiny things that I’m able to do consistently that are the most satisfying. #### Gaming Related Spending It felt like Fanatical was hitting it out of the park all month. I grabbed three different bundles (obviously, I was feeling the creature collection pull this month), a couple sale titles, and one sale title on Steam. Despite not intending to buy much this month, I managed to spend around **$70** in gaming-related spending. * * * ### OTHER NERDSTUFF #### Reading No books this month – I returned **Witchcraft for Wayward Girls** unfinished, and although I started an ebook this month, I didn’t get very far in that either. #### Watching This time last year? I’d watched only 14/100 movies. This year, I managed a very respectable 30/100, which isn’t **_quite_** 1/3 of the project, but doesn’t leave me feeling like I’m playing from behind either. There was a not insignificant number of rewatches this month (11 out of 30 were movies I’d already seen), but I’m still happy with how many new films I watched. I’d say my top three right thus far were Late Night with the Devil, YellowBrickRoad, and Happy Death Day. There have been a few total stinkers – there always are – but nothing that I absolutely hated. Not bad, not bad at all. #### Stitchcraft Etc. I gave myself a little leeway this month – all of my stitches weren’t in pre-existing projects, but I didn’t expect I’d be asked to do a commission this month when I set my goals. I’m about halfway through that, and itching to get back to what I’d been working on. All in all, August was hectic, but also sort of soothing in a way. Nerd Girl Goals – September 2025 I have zero business trying to set goals today. It’s the last day of Blaugust, and with this post I’ll barely have eked out my goal of the Community Builder award – this is post #15. More than half of those posts happened in the past week. I’m double posting today. And I’m tired, y’all. But I’m also a slave to my schedule, which is a merciless master, so onto the goals. * * * ### Gaming & Blogging #### The Goals * Make at least **6 posts** in September 2025. * **In Review** & **Nerd Girl Goals** to bookend the month. * **Play at least 10 hours of single player games during September of 2025**. * Do the daily **Sexaginta-Quattuordle**. * Do the daily **Logic Town** challenge. * Make a decision on what I want to do about this blog going forward, and either renew my WP plan, move over to Hostinger, or just … stop. Because I cannot think of a compelling reason not to, I’m keeping all my normal goals, but really for me, September is (insert ominious music here) about deciding the fate of Nerd Girl Thoughts going forward. I’m currently running on the fumes of my paid personal WP plan, and I’m not sure if things are going to break when that runs out. I’m really … unimpressed … with what I get for around $50 a year, and I had considered trying to migrate over to Hostinger, which says it has WordPress integration. But I am very much not techy, and I’m not entirely sure what that even entails, so I’ve been putting it off. It’s time to make a choice, though, and I have no idea what I want to do. I also have some end-of-Blaugust stuff to finish up, but it’s gonna be late. ### OTHER NERDSTUFF #### The Goals * Read or listen to at least **four books** during August. * Watch at least **30 movies** as part of my 100 Horror Movie project for 2025. * Put at least **4,000 stitches** into any of my current works-in-progress. I’m way behind on books, doing better on movies than last year, and doing decidedly okay with stitching, so we’re doing more samey-same stuff here. #Blaugust2025 Day 31 – End Of The Line Alright, that's it. The lights are out, and the party's over. To me, this isn't just the last day of Blaugust, it's the last day of summer as a whole. It feels like after today, it's back into the pipe until the end of May next year. It isn't, but, that feeling doesn't ever go away. Where I live (around Cincinnati), one of the local radio stations has a big fireworks show on the Ohio River on the night before Labor Day, that gets shown on one of the local tv stations each year on a rotating basis.
