The magnificent JIS deserves its iconic status, but I do marginally prefer this one. Closer to trad jazz with Henderson & Sanders to the fore on 3/4 tracks, AC only playing harp on one. Her piano is marvellous. Always nailed on.

Released in 1966, Last Trane was Prestige's final Coltrane record. It would make sense they were scraping the bottom of the barrel, but this album is great early Trane.
It came out a month before Ascension, so sort of a whiplash.
