Thank you. As a #boardwargamer, I've been intimately familiar with hexagons for close to half a century, but somehow this never came up.
He's a moron. As a #boardwargamer, I can attest that there are women in senior positions at both #gmtgames and Compass Games who would be...let's just say interested...to hear this. Oh, and let us not forget @amabel.bsky.social by any means.
As a #boardwargamer, I can attest that the competing plans of Montgomery and the American command - especially Patton - in the fall of 1944, once the Germans had begun to recover from their rout in France, have been a perennial subject of interest to those of us...
I've known myself about the SS-Totenkopf since I was a lad watching World War II shoot-em-ups, and as a #boardwargamer for nearly 50 years, I can tell you about the ongoing controversy in the hobby about even using white-on-black and the dual lightning runes to identify SS units in games.
What's funny is that any NATO/Warsaw Pact #boardwargamer is intimately familiar with Hesse, even if they don't actually know the game they're playing is set there. The town name Fulda ring any bells?
I've been a #boardwargamer myself for nearly 50 years since high school. There are quite a few more libs/progressives in the hobby than you might suppose (paging @nopipbutcpip.bsky.social , my playtesting partner for Decision Games since 2019). He's a particular devotee of Avalanche Press'...
And now I’m putting the call out to any #boardwargamer who owns “Reinforcements” but doesn’t want it anymore & is willing to sell at a reasonable price. (See picture 1 in the OP for what I paid for the others. Apparently Reinforcements isn’t quite as pricey as I’d thought per BGG.)
As a longtime #boardwargamer, I can attest that there are a number of ACW wargames in which Thomas plays a prominent role, for example this one, focusing on his campaign against Hood: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30...
As a #boardwargamer I know about those boys. The American expeditionary force to Northern Russia is one of the Allied forces that can be deployed to assist the anti-Bolshevik forces in @tdraicer.bsky.social 's wargame "Reds!". boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/29...
One of the biggest thrills I’ve ever had as a #boardwargamer was finding out the copy of the ultra-rare Japanese “Red Sun Black Cross” alternate-history #wargame trilogy that I stumbled across last year had once been Mr. Greene’s.
In fact I was actually reading about the battle of Carrhae this morning in an old issue of Command magazine that I recently got (I'm a longtime #boardwargamer). What seems to have actually happened is that Crassus and most of his army were slaughtered by the Parthians at the end of the battle...
As a #boardwargamer, there are any number of #wargames that are generally acknowledged to be outstanding in their subgenres that I don't care for, for a variety of reasons. Two representative examples:
1) Squad Leader/ASL. I've never been into the man-to-man tactical genre, chiefly because...
As a #boardwargamer, I can testify that there are some games that will easily command prices in at least the high three digits, but the point is that, for that price, you'll get something both physical/tangible and authentically rare. (I own a set of three such games that are worth up to $1k).
This concerns me as a #boardwargamer. The industry is not a large one to begin with & most new games are printed in China.
