By 2004, Bob Lind had been out of the public music lane for decades, still writing, but avoiding recording and the whole music industry… His old pal Arlo Guthrie invited him to play the Guthrie Center in Becket, MA. That show was a switch-flip that put Bob Lind back onstage. #BobLind #OneHitWondered
Bob Lind is mostly remembered, if at all, for his 1966 smash “Elusive Butterfly.” But dig a little deeper and his story gets a lot more interesting: a flash of superstardom, a run of cult-classic albums, and a surprising pivot into literature… and tabloid ‘news.’ #BobLind #OneHitWondered
“Elusive Butterfly” also featured noted banjo player/iconic photographer Henry Diltz… who was then a member of the Modern Folk Quartet. Diltz was brought in for his specific folk-influenced sound on the banjo, which complemented Lind's acoustic guitar. #HenryDiltz #BobLind #OneHitWondered
Does this sort of thing sound familiar? Bob Lind & arranger Jack Nitzsche thought “Cheryl’s Goin’ Home” would be the hit single, and parked “Elusive Butterfly” on the B-side… An on-air personality in Florida turned it over, and “Elusive Butterfly” took flight. #BobLind #JackNitsche #OneHitWondered

Bob Lind should be in every folk-rock ‘origins’ convo... Not a household name, Bob helped bring mid-‘60s coffeehouse folk onto AM radio. He wasn’t the first folk-rock hitmaker (the Byrds beat him to it), but he’s an early example of introspective singer/songwriter folk. #BobLind #OneHitWondered
The week ending Feb. 12, 1966, foundational folkie Bob Lind earned US #OneHitWonder honors when his self-penned folk-rock/pop hybrid “Elusive Butterfly” entered the US #Billboard #Top40 at #32. The single spent 9 weeks on the chart, peaking at #5. #BobLind #OneHitWondered #MusicSky
"Elusive Butterfly" is a popular song written by #BobLind, released as a single in December 1965, which reached number 5 on both the #Billboard #Hot100 and the #adultContemporaryChart in the spring of 1966. It also reached number 5 in the UK, after entering the charts on 19 February 1966.

Still very much with us and indeed, still writing and recording is Bob Lind. Here he is with his debut from '66 which includes, of course, his big hit, 'Elusive Butterfly', but here be other treasures including my personal favourite, 'Unlock The Door'. #Fridayvinyl #BobLind #NP
