The book cover for The Wicked Lies Of Habren Faire by Anna Fiteni has the book title in silver lettering in the centre of the cover with the words Once upon a time in Welsh and English underneath and the author's name underneath that in pink text. There's an illustration in the bottom left cover of a young woman with red wavy hair with a butterfly above her. She is looking at the top right hand cover where there is an illustration of a young male with pointed ears and wavy black hair with a white stripe in it.

The image features a wooden shelf with various decorative items and a book displayed. On the left, there is a pot filled with a plant featuring dark green leaves with light green stripes. A carved wooden duck with a smooth, polished finish is positioned next to the plant. The duck has a painted black eye and rests on the shelf, partially obscured by some of the plant leaves. Beside the duck is a small portion of an orange ceramic pot. In the foreground, a book titled "Shield of Sparrows" is leaning against the pot. The book cover has a dark, intricate design with illustrations of flowers and tree branches. The background is a soft off-white wall. The entire scene is framed by a pink border with white text overlaid on the left, reading "BOOK review."

The image features a designed review titled "My Thoughts" against a pink background with white waves and abstract shapes. The text is contained within an off-white, paper-like rectangle with a flower graphic in the top right corner. The words "Monsters," "Arranged Marriage," and "Slow Burn" are highlighted in colored text: green, blue, and purple, with arrows pointing to phrases in the review. My Thoughts "Cassie, @cover2covertx convinced me to read this one. She set my expectations with saying that although this is a fantasy romance the romance is more subtle compared to the fantasy/world building. Odessa, is a princess that was engaged to her kingdom’s army commander. However, all of a sudden a prince who was supposed to marry her sister, May declared that Odessa would be the only person to meet the Shield of Sparrows agreement. Odessa is tasked with spying on her now husband’s kingdom and his guardian. But the world is filled with monsters and these monsters are acting differently than normal and getting more and more ruthless.

I loved the audiobook! The narrator, Samantha Brentmoor did a FANTASTIC job bringing Odessa and the other characters to life. I really loved the world, the monsters/creatures and the SLOW BURN. There is a viking influence in the book. I did guess one of the unveilings of a character and that wasn’t disappointing to me as it was expected. I also think there were some editing issues with the book in terms of repetition in some of the sentences. The book ends in a big cliffhanger and I really want to know what happens next."

My most recent read was Shaedes of Power by Jenny Grimes.

The book was brilliant and it was really exciting to be part of an Authors Street Team too ✍️
