In traditional Norwegian weddings, brides often wear a bunad, a regional folk costume, or a white wedding gown. A bridal crown, or brudekrone, is a significant element, often a family heirloom decorated with charms that tinkle when the bride moves, warding off evil spirits. Wedding rings are worn on the right hand. Often, the solje (sunny) brooch is worn to sparkle and faintly tinkle to protect from bad luck.
