7) Paid leave, childcare options, and child-friendly spaces are not luxuries, they are the floor. I am still somewhat shocked at what happened yesterday at what was supposed to be a celebration of my wonderful students and their achievements. Shame on #CalStateLA.

6) I sat here with my baby for awhile, and then I just left. My employer, #CalStateLA, has no qualms about discriminating against parents and infants. If the presence of an infant tarnishes the image they want at their lovely graduation ceremony, then they should offer me paid leave.

4) While I was in line for the faculty processional, wearing my regalia and my pass identifying me as a faculty member, a #CalStateLA staff member pulled me and my baby out of line, saying “the infant cannot go on stage”.

1) Yesterday I was removed from the faculty procession at the graduation ceremony for my college at #CalStateLA. I have a 6-month old baby, but the #CalState system does not offer a semester of leave to new parents, so I’m forced to take work reduction for a semester instead of paid leave time.
