Rubbish photo of a hairy caterpillar (Scarlet Tiger) munching on a hairy plant (Green Alkanet) - sadly dropped out of site before I got another go at photographing

Scarlet Tiger is a one-a-year adult for me for the last few years, including one or two in the garden. Plenty of cats later in the year at RSPB Fowlmere, but this is the first I've found this early, or indeed in the garden at home - munching its way through the Green Alkanet #teammoth #cambsmoths

Pale Pinoin was NFY on the night of 18-March-2026. With lovely sunny days, the East Anglian nights have been cold with hard frosts on 2 mornings and thick fog the last two mornings - slim pickings! #teammoth #cambsmoths

16-Mar-2025 A mild night if quite breezy. Red-Green Carpet and Zelleria hepariella were both NFY amidst the 29/9, with another un-drab form of Clouded drab and will marked Double-striped Pug the other highlights

On the morning of 12-Mar, woke up to find the trap upside down in the wind, which was much stronger than forecast in South Cambs. Amazingly, the light was still lit despite it being in the position shown in the photos. Also amazingly, there were still 14 moths in the trap! #teammoth #cambsmoths

Oct 2025 I identified some Common Reed mines containig Cosmopterix scribalella larvae at #RSPBFowlmere - I kept a single mine in a jar, and today an adult eclosed - at the moment I am assuming the same species, although I will get it checked #teammoth #cambsmoths

Didn't light up last night but noticed a moth on the outside of a lighted window at around 7.30pm - Engrailed. Quite a surprise - last seen here 1st April 2024, then one in early July 2022, and two in early July 2020 #teammoth #cambsmoths

A nice sunny day here so put the FUN lure out while I sat eating my lunch outside - 5 Pammene giganteana arrived within a 30 minute spell (one landed on the outside of the trap and crawled around a bit before heading off elsewhere)
