Today marks the first of several events for the dedication of With These Hands: A Memorial to the Enslaved and Exploited and opening of Oak Row exhibition space. I am glad to have been involved with this project and recovering this history.

With pending construction near historic buildings, I adjusted the syllabus. Students did shovel tests. They found some pottery shards, broken ceramic plates, coal & old gravel used in the old pathways. They loved talking to the Dean, campus chaplain and campus archivists about it. #campushistory

Yesterday, I gave my Reclaimed Histories (aka Hidden Voices) #campushistory tour to some mid level univ administrators from across divisions. Then they discussed the meaning of the stories heard. Overwhelmed by the responses: Ppl reported feeling proud, empowered, intrigued, educated. So pleased!
