A painting of the Holy Family with the seer Anna, at the temple on the day of Jesus' presentation. In the foreground are a frontlit Mary and Jesus, with the child standing on a white cloth on a surface on whcih also sits a sprig of a plant with red flowers or buds. He looks at the seer Anna, who stands facing sideways, holding out her arms up in front of her, with something (fruit? an apple?) in her left hand. In the background are Joseph and another person in red, holding up a bunch of green grapes over the mother and child.

Warwickshire weather lore for this day:
If Candlemas Day be fair and bright,
Winter will have another flight.
If Candlemas Day be wind and rain,
Winter is gone and won’t come again.

Good morning to @tommckinney.bsky.social and Radio 3 Breakfasters on #CandlemasDay. Hope everyone has a good week. Lovely to hear FieldFares as the Dawn Chorus. No visits from them to our garden this year but they used to be regulars, enjoying windfall apples.

A picture of the illuminated corner of a music manuscript page, in which the initial letter A is decorated with the scene of baby Jesus' presentation at the temple. At the far left (as the viewer sees the scene) stands a woman in a gray wimple, with a halo, possibly the seer Anna. In front of her in a scarlet robe and halo stands a man receiving the wrapped, haloed baby from Mary, who stands across the altar from him, wearing a blue gown (and a halo). There is a male figure behind the altar, presumably a priest, who also wears a red garment but does not have a halo. Behind Mary is haloed St. Joseph in a green robe and a gold cloak around his waist. At the bottom of the scene, emerging from leaf-like flourishes, ar the busts of two nuns in black and white, facing each other with their hands raised in prayer positions, gazing at the temple scene.

Today is #CandlemasDay. In French, it is called #Chandeleur and it is a day we traditionally eat #crepes. 🥞😋

What's your favourite crepe topping? Mine would be dark chocolate spread.
