A pair of Canada Geese at a local nature reserve yesterday morning. One preens its neck, its mate keeps a watchful eye on me crouched down on the bank of the lake a safe distance away. The weak autumn sunlight backlights the shadowed lake, filtering through the remaining golden leaves of the trees lining the far bank.
