LAX to Irvine by public transit takes over 3 hours

Metrolink trains schedule on Saturday from near Burbank airport to Irvine. Only two trains depart that day

Flying PDX->SoCal. Need cheap flight + transit that matches my arrival time is so hard. I can find cheap tix from PDX to BUR but gotta wait 1hr for the last train on Fri or nothing on Sat. Fly into LAX takes over 3hr on transit which is longer than my flight. SNA, gotta have a car.
