Had a delightful talk with a young boy who had arrived at the park on the back of a cargo bike with his dad. We both heartily agreed that cars are what destroyed the built environment and getting to the park on a bike was far superior to arriving by car. #carlessbychoice

From FB, 16 yrs ago today this convo occurred at work.
Spouse: You take the car.
Me: I don't want the car, you take it.
Spouse: If I take it I don't get to walk home.
Me: OK, I'll take it & walk back up here to walk home with you.
So I did! #carlessbychoice

Ran into my neighbor, said I was walking home from a zoo visit & he asked, oh did you get a ride up then walk down?
Why yes, I rode the bus up.

His look of confusion told me he has never thought of the bus as a way for “people like us” to get places.
