Wow. @DavidParkerMP genuinely moved while describing @jacindaardern breastfeeding in Cabinet: “that is the first time that has ever happened in any Cabinet room anywhere in the world ... and she has said to the world that her leadership will be judged on #climate change.” #ccbc18

A round of applause for @SilverLiningGS’s policy work on the NZ ETS in the 2000s at #ccbc18 #EDSClimateChat.

I reckon she deserves another, louder, longer one for her own 10th anniversary celebration - m.youtube.com/watch

There are many reasons why we should stick with deploying electric light rail in Auckland not trackless electric teams. So. Many. Reasons. #ccbc18 #EDSClimateChat

No country that “jumped on the bus” in agreeing to the Paris Agreement “without knowing where it was going”.

The difference was & is not as simple as “renegotiating the Paris deal”. This is all about what differentiation (as agreed in Paris) means. #ccbc18 #EDSClimateChat

TLDR for @SustainableAkl’s talk: Cities worldwide are doing totally amazing things to make people’s lives better, cut emissions and build resilience. Auckland can too. #ccbc18 #EDSClimateChat

Debating what’s more difficult between #climate adaptation or mitigation is fundamentally backwards thinking. Both are hard. And they impact on each other absolutely. #ccbc18 #EDSClimateChat

At #ccbc18, @RodOramNZ described @climateactiontr as “one of my favourite bunches of people who tell you what countries are up to”. So what do they say about New Zealand?

It’s not so good. We have a lot of work to do. The #ZeroCarbonAct is a great...

If someone tells you New Zealand is too small to matter when it comes to #climate change, tell them (a) our diplomats designed the Paris Agreement’s legal form; (b) @ClimateEnvoyNZ co-chairs the negotiations to implement Paris; and (c) 130 countries emit less than us. #ccbc18

There’s no question that the world is acting. Outliers like Trump don’t deserve a lot of the focus we give them. US emissions are falling, and there’s nothing Trump will do to change that. #ccbc18 #EDSClimateChat

It's not "realistic" to suggest keeping pumping out greenhouse gases in a way consistent with 3-4C of warming. Pitting "realistic" cuts vs "achievable" cuts doesn't help. The only "realistic" options now are ones that are consistent with net zero emissions and 1.5C. #CCBC18

Just stabilising emissions of short-lived gases is simply not consistent with limiting warming to 1.5C. The @IPCC_CH yesterday said that we'd need 35% global cuts in methane by 2050 for 1.5C. #CCBC18 #EDSClimateChat
