The #centralMediterranean continues to be the world’s deadliest migration route. At least 380 people are feared dead or missing. These incidents occurred during #CycloneHarry.
Other boats are still unaccounted after departing from #Tunisia and #Libya.

All these hurdles are a distortion of international law, designed to hinder rescue in the #CentralMediterranean.
This needs to stop.
The sea needs to be treated as a humanitarian space.
What happened in the #centralMediterranean in November?
-4,633 people reached Italy by sea
- 1,826 departures from Libya
- Civilian sea rescue saved 876 people
- 76 people died, 61 remain missing
- At least 3,178 pushbacks/pullbacks at sea
- 2,992 people forcibly returned to Libya

1/6 A chaotic weekend in the #CentralMediterranean has led to an illegal forced return to Libya, possible loss of life, and merchant and humanitarian vessels left with no support or instructions from the authorities responsible for coordinating rescue efforts.
