A Treecreeper climbing the trunk of a tree in search of the invertebrates it eats, which it excavates from crevices in the bark. It's a small mottled brown bird, with light streaks and white underparts which camouflage it against the tree bark. It has a pale stripe above the eye and a long, thin downcurved beak. Its stiff tail is used like an extra limb to help brace it against vertical trunks.
