This is a color landscape photo of American White Pelicans. There are probably at least 50 of them in the frame. They are mostly standing on the tan sand beach, but 3 in the foreground on the left are sitting. They are uniformly facing to the right. The sun is coming from the right and they are leaving their shadows towards the camera and to the left. They almost look like marching soldiers in formation except for one near the front who has decided to spread wings in anticipation of taking flight while another behind it seems to have their head in the our and mouth wide open to squawk. Above the pelicans and in the background are the choppy light blue waters of a lake and behind that and higher in the frame, the opposing shore with a dense copse of brown leafless trees. In the are and out of focus are a handful of seagulls doing seagull things.

Went to #CherryCreekStatePark tonight in #Colorado and saw these American White #Pelicans just acting afool. Was fun to watch and capture, but very very cold.

This is a landscape photo of a frozen lake with three Coyotes hunting in a large flock of birds--mostly a type of gull, but with other birds as well. The horizon line is 50/50. Above the horizon are the distant tree line with an overcast sky above it. There are a few birds in the sky. Below the line is the frozen lake with 6 inches of fresh snow on it. Just below the horizon on the left hundred of birds have just taken flight at the approaching coyotes. There are three in a line, with one furthest ahead and more aggressive and the other two hanging back a bit. The coyotes were not successful as far as I could tell.

Big snow days do I went to #CherryCreekStatePark early this morning and captured these #Coyotes hunting on the frozen lake.

This landscape photo features four grazing horses grazing behind a fence line east of the Rocky Mountains during sunset. The sky is largely clear with some long thin layered clouds gray in the light of sunset. The sky is light yellow at the top of the frame to a light orange where the sky meets the mountains with every gradient between yellow and orange showing up/. The mountains are a light grey with purple tones. Beneath the mountains are a grove of trees in the state park with 5 of them standing couch closer in a tan field of dried grass and deep brown dirt. The trees are bare of any leaves and just show their fan-like canopy above the horizon line. The fence surrounding the horses is made up of posts every eight feet with three rows of wire between each. There are two tan horses, the foremost horse is one of them with a white path on his forehead. Another is a brown and the final horse is the deep brown and white of a pinto or a paint horse.

Purple Mountains Majesty. #CherryCreekStatePark just south of #Denver #Colorado and my favorite place close by to spend an evening when I am not out wandering. Shot a few weeks ago.

This is a landscape shot of a sunset at a lake. The horizon is at 50% of the frame and marked by a shoreline, some tall buildings and the Rocky Mountains in silhouette. Because of the wide angle lens, the mountains appear small. Moving from the horizon to the top of frame, there is a light blue sky moving to deep blue at the top of frame punctuated by clouds radiating outward, primarily to the left but also to the right. At the mountains, the sky is orange and the clouds are cast in grey. Moving from the horizon line to the bottom of the frame is the sky perfectly reflected in the ripple-less water. It truly looks like a mirror right until it reaches a sand covered shoreline with two large rocks and the detritus typical of a lakeshore--pebbles, dried leaves, and small sticks. The shoreline is a near perfectly straight diagonal line going from close to bottom left to close to the middle right. The overall effect is a little surreal--almost as if you are looking out of a window, rather than on a shoreline.

For #Stunday I present a shot from one of the 1st times I used the #Nikon #D850 with the 14-24mm glass--a #bluesky #sunset at #CherryCreekStatePark in #Colorado and the lake was absolute glass.
