Could not resist diving into this excellent nature writing memoir by #ChloeDalton.
Close encounters with leveret, obsessive research into hares, to help not harm them and a change in perspective on local fields and wildlife policy.
A beautiful living tale.

Finishing Raising Hare by #ChloeDalton, it's so good, nature writing at its best.
Another human has their consciousness raised by wildlife.ππ«
Prey Observes Predator Book cover of Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton Short listed for the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction 2025 The cover features a colour illustration of a Hare by Denuse Nestor, there are .ore beautiful illustrations at the start if each chapter and on the inner front and back covers. In the photo the book rests on a chair next to a black cat.
This is such a gentle, enquiring, observational work of nature writing alongside the subtle transformation of one human in her own way, through the forced care and acute observation of a leveret, its home environment & habits.
Loving it.

Just finished reading this wonderful book. I cried through the last chapter, yes, it's that good! Full of warmth, humanity, reflections on the life of the hare she cares for & parallels the human & animal experience. Highly recommended #ChloeDalton #RaisingHare
I'm a couple of days behind for #30DaysWild - I'll give a book recommendation for #Day5.
#RaisingHare by #ChloeDalton is the best #nature book I've read this year. It's been shortlisted for multiple awards, and it's criminal that it hasn't one at least one of them.

Unshowy and unsentimental but so very moving. Best book about wildlife I've ready for ages.

This will be fun! In 1974 while rototilling a community garden a nest of baby bunnies was found and I raised them. We only lost the runt.
