I’m likely never gonna be a Godard guy, but I’m definitely a Movies About Making Movies guy, so this was extremely my jam. Zoey Deutch’s Jean Seberg: A+.
ORWELL: 2+2=5 is a perfect example of a type of documentary that I hate. It bombards you with so many clips that it doesn’t give you a chance to question whether all the connections it’s trying to make actually make sense. And the “Newspeak” section was embarrassingly weak. #CIFF2025
NO OTHER CHOICE: gorgeous images, unexpected humor, surprising and inventive violence. Yup, that’s a Park Chan-wook movie. #CIFF2025

SIRAT: based on the brief description “rave in the desert”, I was expecting a Gaspar Noe-like sensory assault. This is not that. It’s got a couple of REALLY shocking plot developments, and it’s pretty great. #CIFF2025
