A huge vintage 1980s handmade 980 silver and carved obsidian Mexican pre-Columbian Aztec Chieftain design pendant by the Laton workshop in Taxco. A gorgeous example of the best by this lesser-known Mexican maker with textured silver headdress and incised curling 'feathers' in silver from the top, and with a dangling earring that moves! Measures 3.5" tall by 1.75" wide, and weighs 25.3 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Mexico" with one of the post 1980 registry marks used by Laton in Taxco, "TH-06", also "Taxco Mexico 980" in a circle around initials "LPV". In excellent vintage condition.
