I love the humor in this soft sculpture, a collaborative with Coosje. They lived and worked in New York City. He passed in 2022 in his Manhattan home from complications of a fall.

How ingenious is this idea? He used metal, stone, glass, clay, and probably lots of other materials I cannot name. He was called on for major commissions around the world and was awarded many honors and recognition throughout his life.

#CLAESOLDENBURG. This was a collaboration with his wife, Coosje van Bruggen. The two were married in 1977, but had met years earlier in Sweden. Coosje was a Dutch/American writer and art historian. They married in 1977 and collaborated for 30 years before her death in 2009.
