Two year-old buck gazes at me from the huckleberry thicket. I was taking photos of the dogwood tree & turned around & there he was 10 ft away. Bucks generally avoid humans. It was a feral, magical moment to share with him.

Mama and Saucy stop by for a sip and an itch. It is the season of fawns melting spots. If you look closely, you can see the dark commas of Saucy's first antlers beginning to emerge.

Mama, with Saucy who will be 12 weeks old tomorrow, came for a visit today & stayed for a nap & a bath. It's the season of fawns' melting spots, and Saucy's scrubbing at his. It's good to know they can come here and feel safe. Sending you all this safety and bliss.
