Given that musical instruments pre-date "the west" by 10s of 1000s of yrs, perfected into practice at least 1000 prior to Pythagoras, even his question re. #consonance at the time was misleading. As stated above, he was simply looking to confirm numerology #biases to uphold his cult-like beliefs.

Just got back from #Consonance. Met #BobKanefsky, #KristophKlover, etc - names I'd only seen before. Shared the filk site (iiridayn.info/filk/) and got mixed reviews; I'm glad some were positive, and I have a list of things to adjust now too. #JoeFicklin was a joy to travel with.

(Expanding on the 4 points individually)

1. Poor choice of words: "music theory far from finished.." - it's one theory that may never be "finished," as it changes with culture & tech. I was mainly referring to the length of time that we've had the open question on #consonance & origin of the rules.

3. Culminating w/Helmholtz, the lack of explanation for #consonance led to reducing it down to perception & physiology.

4. In all areas, people moved between realms of space & time w/o blinking, as if interchangeable & commensurate, up until relativistic #spacetime & even then, just kicked the can.
