A pair of Pachycereus marginatus (Mexican fence post) cactus. The typical version on left is straight with four ridges. The crested version on the right has multiple curved ridges stacked together. It is a rare form since it is growing mostly vertically, rather than in multiple directions.

These are 'Mexican fence post' cactus. The one on the right has a much less common "crested" growth pattern. I love both forms, but look at those curves. 😍🌵

A variegated (tricolor), crested Myrtillocactus Geometrizans (Blue myrtle aka Blue candle) cactus. Its body color is primarily light green and greenish-yellow. Blue sections are closer to the base and between the ridges. Crested cactus are naturally occurring genetic mutations that cause the growth pattern to mutate and form unique, one of a kind shapes.

A young crested and variegated Blue Myrtle cactus. I love crested versions of this cactus since they grow into such unique and sculptural shapes. 🌱

A Hildewinteria aureispina f. cristata in a dark rust colored pot. The leaf pads are growing in a curved and crested pattern. They're covered in yellow spines with a light green flesh color beneath.

This is a crested version of a "Golden Rat Tail" cactus. All of the leaves are crested except the small ones in the lower right corner. They're growing normally.

A crested cactus in a small ceramic pot. There are two small pups that are also crested. Crested cactus are genetic mutations that have unique growth patterns that are different from a normal specimen.

This little crested cactus was a cutting from an acquaintance. I haven't been able to identify the genus/species so far, but love the crested pups and unusual colors.
