concept sketches for the above. On an abstract shape in midcentury style hand-written fonts is written "Nai'a Nights", the name of the bar for which the sign was made. Nai'a is the hawaiian word for dolphin. Underneath the title is a smaller sign that says 'restaurant and bar' next to a sea shell and on the sign beneath it is a mermaid posed in the fashion of retro plane nose art, reflecting the art of the hawaiian model on the nose of Space Dandy's space ship. There are two iterations of the sign; one with a palm tree and planet behind the top abstract shape, and one without.

The first finished iteration of the sign, which is a refined version of the sign with the ringed planet and palm tree behind the word "Nai'a Nights". It retains its mid-century style in a pallete of teals, yellows, oranges, and lime greens. The chubby mermaid on the sign is more clearly an orca mermaid based on her full body patterning. She is meant to be Maya Fey turned into an orca mermaid, depicted as a mascot for the bar. Just the same as the girl on Space Dandy's ship, the Maya mermaid is holding a ray gun pointed at the sky. Her face is in profile but her eyes are at the viewer, and her white lips are posed in a pout.

A further refined version of the sign with a different mascot depiction. Maya Fey as an orca mermaid has her arm around the waist of Space Dandy as a Common Dolphin merman who has his arm around hers; their tails are twined together, and while Maya points her ray gun to the sky, Dandy's points to the ground below. Both are looking at the viewer mischievously and smiling.
