You're looking for something that's readable but more efficient and smaller than #JSON or #YAML?
Structure data with #ASCII control codes like people did in 1963!

New version 1.19.0 of the Crystal compiler is out now. Some improvements to Time, subprocess spawning, JSON/YAML handling, XML memory fixes, and Windows compiling performance increases. #crystallang #crystal-lang forum.crystal-lang.org/t/crystal-1-...
For #adventofcode 2025 problems, I cycled through #crystallang, #elixir, #Rust, and #Scala -- each problem in two languages. Looking back, I enjoyed working with Elixir (followed by Scala). I think the pipe operator was a big factor as it simplifies data processing.

Following @simonwillison.net test of porting JustHTML to another language, decided to task Opus 4.5 and port it to #crystallang, been running for 2 hours, ran out of context space 1 time, but looks promising.

The only thing that makes this worse is that compiling #CrystalLang takes nearly 45 minutes now for production. So missing some runtime bug means nearly an hour before it's fixed. This is why #Lucky focuses on development compile catches.
Apparently you can do some hot reloading in ECR? #CrystalLang willhbr.net/2025/11/17/h...
It takes me 2 minutes and 21 seconds to run a single spec in #CrystalLang. The actual spec completes in 145 milliseconds. Absolutely brutal for productivity 😫 Hoping this drops once I can delete some old files.
Main blocker is the #CrystalLang, the game is written with Crystal and Raylib, which means it can build into everything that both Raylib and Crystal supports. it seems WebAssembly is not yet a supported target in Crystal.
Just released Rosetta v1.0.0, an #i18n shard for #CrystalLang, about four years after its inception. Aside from a some QoL improvements it now also supports key nesting, a feature that was on the wishlist for a very long time.
