I recently found out that the red "petals" of the cuetlaxochitl are actually leaves and the flowers are the bits in the center. They are absolutely gorgeous either way.

The beautiful plant people call the poinsettia has a name—Cuetlaxochitl. Some guy came and stole it from us and had his enslaved captives cultivate them in South Carolina, so of course he’s the namesake.
