Whew, after 2 weeks of coding I finally have the character sheet site in stage. Eventually I want it to be a place to store your character in any game, but for now it is just for my game, #D12Expeditions

In #d12expeditions so far the number goes up slowly but you get 2-3 new actions per level. But is that too much. By the time you hit tier 2 ( level 4) you have 2 ancestry features and 6-10 archetype features (spells included for casters). As you progress some of them supersede previous features.

Refreshed from the Game Jam I solved a hanging problem around movement. I also got the Fireburst and Arcane Orb spells added to my #VisualNovel. 63 to go. Remind me, why did I think it was a good idea to implement the entire range of #D12Expeditions abilities? But seriously, it is good to be back.

New #d12expeditions #godot #devlog, after a month I have basic combat working. All I need now is to implement spellcasting and I'll have the basics of combat complete.

After reworking how npcs sense pcs and hunt them down, the basic bandit enemy now works. On top of that, turn order is working so it switches from player to NPC back to player turns. Now on to refining the controls and add initiative rolling.

The store is up and running. Now the player can buy equipment before they leave town. As the conceit is that the user is somewhat piloting each individual player's character they are kept separate. At least until playtesting says to change.

The complex roller is done! It chains rolls together and asks what party member makes each roll. It also allows you to give individual character hindrances or edges on individual rolls. As well as provide an NPC assistant to grant an edge on rolls.

The first two pages of the Cydwen Breastplate.

Setup
Lord Johur is in trouble. His rule is being challenged and he needs to recover his legitimacy. To do it, he needs assistance in recovering a family heirloom, the Cydwen Breastplate, from a barrow tomb in a neighboring county. If he did it himself it would cause a diplomatic incident, so he needs someone not associated with him to recover it for him. He has called the party to retrieve it for him and will reward them handsomely (100 gold each) and they can keep what they take from the tomb.
But there are those that stand in their way.
The Opposition
Lord Johur has political enemies that want to keep him isolated as a minor lord. They are planning on disempowering him in the King’s court and replacing him with a more agreeable cousin. They are using Chent, an agent for the opposition, and his gang to dissuade those who Lord Johur tries to hire. This should be an Easy encounter where Chent and his forces seem overwhelming but retreat immediately when threatened with force.
The Bandits
There is a group of bandits hiding in the woods between the party and the barrow. If they learn of the treasure, they will delay the party and attempt to retrieve it for themselves. This should be a Moderate encounter where the bandits somewhat outnumber the party.
The Gnolls
A troupe of Gnolls have taken up residence in the barrow and are close to unsealing the tomb. This should be a Hard encounter. The Gnolls are tough enemies and there should be 1 Gnoll for every 2 PCs. The party will have the opportunity to rest and heal before continuing.
The Tomb Guardians
The tomb is guarded by a Mummy and multiple Skeletons. The Mummy can be reasoned with to surrender its treasure to help its descendant. It also has items that can grant features to PCs that it uses on the party to demonstrate their features. The Mummy is tough and there should be 1 Skeleton for every PC making a Hard encounter....

Every die is rolled by the players against a Target Number. The #D12Expeditions is flexible in mixing and matching skills, stats, and expertises to fit the task.

Difficulty
Target Number
The target number is set by the difficulty of the task, whether it is a
task, enemy defense, or defense from enemy attack. The Game Master
can tweak the Target Number to reflect event specific adjustments to
difficulty, like armor, weather effects, enemy expertise, etc.
Target Difficulty
5 Simple Anyone with a passing familiarity with the task

can achieve it.

7 Easy Anyone trained in the task can successfully

achieve it.

9 Moderate This takes some effort to achieve, but can be

achieved with time and focus.

13 Hard Even with time and focus it requires a steady
hand, extensive training, or luck.
15 Improbable Only those with mastery of a task can push
themselves this far to hope to achieve this level
of outcome.

19 Impossible This is the realm of gods and immortals. Only
the highest tier characters can hope to succeed
at these tasks.

Complex Rolls
Some tasks are not achievable by a single character using a single Roll.
The Game Master offers three Stat+Skill+Expertise Rolls to complete
the task. Rolls may have alternate Stat+Skill+Expertise combos to
choose from. Three different characters need to complete each of the
three Rolls. If there are not enough characters to make all three checks,
a character can make a second check at a Hindrance. A character that
has the required Skill can assist another character who is rolling,
granting the rolling character an Edge on their Roll. The number of
checks that succeed determines if the overall task succeeds or fails, as
well as whether Perks or Complications apply.
• Three Successes - succeeds with a Perk.
• Two Successes - succeed at the task.
• One Success - succeeds the task with a Complication.
• No Successes - fails the task with a Complication.

Wizards are masters of the arcane. Their favored stats are Aptitude and Will. They are proficient in Arcane Enigmas, Focus, Knowledge, and one additional skill. Their starting Burn is 6. Wizards have a base HP of 6. Wizards begin with an arcane focus they use to cast spells.

Arcane Bolt Aptitude+Arcane Enigmas vs Burn and Deflect. Deal 2 damage to target.
Fireburst Aptitude+Arcane Enigmas vs Burn and Deflect. Hit three targets standing nearby each other and deal 2 damage. Increment Burn by 1.

I am, trying to get #d12Expeditions ready for Zinequest. I have a whole d20esque system that fits on an 11x17 sheet of paper folded I to a booklet. Uses a single d12 and fits in your pocket. The character creation rules are pretty open. I need to playtest the default adventure but I am mostly there.

I am looking for reviewers for my #Zinequest "pub game" #D12Expeditions zine. It is a winnowed down #TTRPG that uses a single D12 that facilitates fantasy roleplay with flexible but minimal character creation and a system where players roll all the dice. It all fits in a pocket and a keychain.

Just got my sample D12 from Die Hard Dice. It is somewhat smaller than my D20, but it still fits the chainmail cage on my keychain. Next step on the path to #Zinequest, order a few varieties of chainmail dice cage keychains from Etsy, see what fits the D12 best. #D12Expeditions ho!

I am running a playtest of #d12Expeditions #Zine. It is a rules light pickup game where you need a single d12 to play and players roll all dice. I am hoping it goes well and my time estimates for character creation and the adventure are accurate. Hopefully the HP math works.

I go a step further. Players should roll all the dice. The system should be designed so the GM focuses on running the game and providing interesting consequences of those rolls.
