Watching white women wear dreadlocks while reposting *stolen language* about gaslighting and Indigenous harm—without naming their own proximity to it—is wild.

Discomfort is often the invitation.

«International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers» December 17 [Illustration of a red umbrella.] [logo: TAMPEP] ‣ Migrant Sex Workers Call for Rights

INTERNATIONAL DAY TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST SEX WORKERS

Physical attacks, psychological violence, even murders, continue to afflict sex workers every day round the world, but no effective actions have been taken to prevent it. Violence against sex workers, especially of migrant sex workers, street-based and transgender, are commonplace.

Sex workers and allies across Europe demand the recognition of labour and migration rights as a way to combat stigma and violence against sex workers.

WHAT IS VIOLENCE AGAINST SEX WORKERS
▪ Stigma and discrimination
▪ State violence
▪ Lack of security
▪ Criminalization by law
▪ Criminalization of clients
▪ Exclusion at decision forums

The violence, stigma and repression sex workers experience isolate them and increase their vulnerability.
Sex workers are everywhere, yet no one sees them, except when they serve as pawns to be played in the public debate to justify repressive laws or actions to “protect” them.

We demande that the political climate in Europe will move toward more rights and more safety, not toward criminalization.

Join us, LISTEN TO SEX WORKERS, stand up to demand an end of ALL forms of violence against sex workers!

Today, we remember, mourn & honor the members of our community we've
lost to senseless violence. Sex workers
deserve the right to work safely without fear of stigma, violence, or arrest.

Honoring those we've lost means fighting for a future where sex workers can live and work safely

Today is #IDEVASW

Take a moment for those we've lost, and put your back into supporting those who are still around. We experience all kinds of violence.
State-sanctioned incl the prison industrial complex, racism, bigotry of all forms, the patriarchy, lack or complete absence of resources.

What does violence against sex workers look like (my experience):
Violence looks like cancelling a session last minute during the holiday season
Violence looks like getting my incall address then ghosting me
Violence looks like booking the disabled sex worker because you know you can physical overpower them
Violence looks like never paying a cancellation fee
Violence looks like writing fake reviews
Violence looks like doxxing
Violence looks like not getting to eat all day because the client doesn't think it's important for me to eat
Violence looks like getting worse medical care because you're a whore
Violence looks like the MPX outbreak only being spoken about in private

#InternationalDayToEndViolenceAgainstSexWorkers was established on #ThisDayInHistory in 2003. #D17 was created to memorialize the victims of yet another serial killer who targeted #SexWorkers, as well as to highlight ongoing state violence, and the vile brutality of many johns.

December 1 — Why we say their names.
“We say their names because memory is power.”
Every names spoken resists silence, erasure, and stigma.

December 2 — Why we need December 17.
Violence isn't inevitable.
Violence is preventable. December 17 matters because safety requires change—law, culture, and community.

December 3 — Criminalization creates violence.
Criminalization = Violence.
Decriminalization = Safety.
Laws should protect, not endanger.

December 4 — Stigma kills.
“Why was she there?” is the wrong question.
The right one: “Who hurt her, and why wasn't she protected?”

December 5 — When justice isn't justice.
Justice denied = Violence continued.
Sex workers deserve safety, dignity, and justice—no exceptions.

December 6 — Stories of survival.
Survival is not silence.
Every story told is prof that we are not invisible, and that we are not powerless.

December 7 — Building our own safety.
When systems fail, we keep each other alive.
Buddy systems. Bad-date lists. Mutual aid.
Community safety is real safety.

December 8 — Resilience as resistance.
Every act of joy is an act of defiance.
Resilience = Resistance.

December 13 — How allies can show up.
Donate, show up, listen, amplify, advocate.

December 14 — Funding justice, not violence.
Stop funding raids. Start funding rights.
Justice means funding sex worker-led solutions.

December 15 — Memorial, not just mourning.
From mourning to movement, our grief is resistance, our resistance is power.

December 16 — A world without violence.
Imagine safety.
A world where sex work is work, and no one's life is disposable.

December 17 — Closing reflections.
Much has changed. Much hasn't.
But together, across every line of politics and faith—we can end the violence.
