Female monarch butterfly, wings closed pointing right, laying eggs on a green milkweed plant. Her head and thorax are black with white spots, and her abdomen is black with 2 white stripes near the bottom going lengthwise. Her hindwing is light orange with black veins and the edge is bordered with black with white spots. Her forewing is split into 2 parts by a black band with 2 rows of white spots near the tip. The inner part is a deeper orange and the outer a light orange. It has black veins and is with black with white spots.
