The Dead Daisies – A Long Way To Go Zeg, deze had je toch al eens geplaatst? Klopt. In november werd bekend gemaakt dat ze een livealbum _Live At Stonedead_ zouden uitbrengen, uitsluitend digitaal. Afgelopen week kwam het bericht dat ze zich bedacht hebben – of het was een strategie om van de fanatiekste fans twee keer te vangen, dat sluit ik niet uit. In mei komt _Live Plus Five_ uit, een dubbel-cd met _Live At Stonedead_ en een cd met nog vijf livetracks van andere optredens.

The Dead Daisies – Going Down The Dead Daisies waren bij de zuiderburen en hebben daar een fijne video van. Deze track van Freddy King staat ook op het coversalbum _Lookin’ For Trouble_. In die recensie schreef ik dat drumster Sarah Tomek alweer vertrokken was – je leest wel eens wat – maar deze keer was de informatie blijkbaar niet juist, want hier is ze gewoon te zien.

The Dead Daisies – Boom Boom Het mag bekend zijn dat ik een liefhebber van covers en coversalbums ben. Dat geldt nog een beetje meer als het bluescovers zijn en dat geldt zeker ook als The Dead Daisies die covers uitvoeren. Hun eerste coversalbum _Locked And Loaded_ vind ik nog steeds zeer geslaagd. Het op 30 mei verschijnende bluescoversalbum _Lookin’ For Trouble_ is daarom een mooie om me weer eens aan een recensie te wagen. Ik ga rustig beginnen en het nog even aankijken, maar het is uiteraard wel met de insteek het gewoon weer op te pakken. Dit “Boom Boom” is een cover van John Lee Hooker.

The Dead Daisies – Crossroads _Light ‘Em Up_ viel me vorig jaar erg tegen, maar er is recent goed nieuws uit Daisyland gekomen: op 30 mei verschijnt er een album met bluescovers, _Lookin’ For Trouble_. Ook heel fijn: daarop onder andere Robert Johnsons “Crossroads”. In een versie die Johnson zich destijds vast niet heeft kunnen voorstellen. Uiteraard t.z.t. ook in mijn Robert Johnson-playlist te vinden.

The Dead Daisies – Love That’ll Never Be Ik was blij met de terugkeer van John Corabi bij The Dead Daisies, omdat de versie met Glenn Hughes meer op een Glenn Hughes-soloband leek dan op The Dead Daisies. Toch kan ik niet zeggen dat het nieuwe album _Light ‘Em Up_ hier veel in de cd-speler heeft gezeten. “Love That’ll Never Be” is wel kenmerkend voor het album: het voelt voornamelijk als een herhalingsoefening en dat is met de individuele kwaliteiten van de muzikanten echt onder de maat. Binnenkort zijn ze in Nederland: op 5 maart staat de band geprogrammeerd in Mezz in Breda.
