The male flowers of the Mallotus japonicus tree are blooming. I haven't seen any female trees nearby, but fortunately, I saw bees visiting the flowers. I hope they'll carry the pollen to the female flowers.

Observed the 1st Lindera #spring flowering #phenology this morning in SE Michigan! Lindera is #dioecious, so while male plants have started blooming, the female plants are probably still a week or two away from flowering, and then they'll have a few weeks together for pollination
