Halftime at Uryupin and Tcherniakov’s Maid of Orleans. Can’t quite believe how good this is: fab conducting, glorious playing, and a cast where I honestly can’t imagine a single role better sung. Superlative choral singing, and I’m enjoying Tcherniakov’s personenregie. Wow! #DNO #LiveTheatre

And the orchestra clearly loved playing for Stutzmann, covering themselves in glory. Thunderous applause for all. Even Kosky was at the curtain calls, despite this being a revival. Viva opera! (Am I becoming a Puccini fan?) 🫢 #DNO #opera

Good lord, Stutzmann is good. Detailed, flexible, passionate, thrilling, and a real storyteller. I loved act 1. And Kosky’s coup-de-theatre with the Te deum (a huge altarpiece with living people - the choir) I found even more impressive this time round. Fabulous stuff! ❤️ #opera #DNO #Amsterdam

Ik heb vlak na zijn aantreden in 1988 Nixon in China in de Stopera gezien. Inmiddels al zo’n 20j een vaste bezoeker van de opera.
Tot zijn meesterwerken behoren zijn Ring des Nibelungen & Aus Licht!
