A child sits at a desk holding a game controller, playing a colorful pixel art game on a large monitor. The game scene shows a cheerful dog character giving tutorial instructions to “mash the X button to slap your mawashi five times!” The game is open in Godot Engine with development tools visible in the background, suggesting a playtest in progress.
First vertical slice test: complete.
Chief Slap Officer and Head of QA says the X button needs to “slap harder.”
Tough crowd.
But we’re still in development.

Denuma, a retired sumo, cooks chanko-nabe in a quiet kitchen. The player sprite stands nearby. This scene is the first test of the game's working narrative system, powered by Dialogic.
Back in April, I didn’t know what a Dialogic was.
Today, it runs the story systems in my first game.
This still shows our first working narrative scene.
Denuma, the chanko-nabe master, is at the stove.

A side-by-side comparison of two pixel art sumo arena scenes from a video game in development. The top image shows an early, simpler version with two sumo wrestlers on a bare wooden stage. The bottom image shows a more detailed and vibrant version of the same arena, now filled with characters, a colorful gyoji (referee), decorative elements, audience members, and environmental details like snacks and personal items in the crowd. The scene represents visual and design progress over time.

Meet Hōshōzan, the man who climbed to Yokozuna, then vanished at his peak.
Now, he runs your stable.
He’ll train you. He’ll test you. He might even break you.
