Martial Arts: better than yoga for stress relief, more useful than a Peloton. It’s an investment in your nervous system. Train with purpose, not just for a calorie count.
Your body remembers what your mind forgets under pressure. 🤯

Zen is not easy. It takes real effort to attain nothingness.
And then—what do you have?
Nothing.

B Is for Burros Being Burros The burros are swearing again. You can’t hear them, but I can. Sometimes, it’s a whisper disguised as a tender blue hum that draws me in like a barnyard lover. Then, “F*ck the hay. F*ck the flies.” Early mornings, they stand, long heads hanging over the farthest fence, braying profanities I can’t bear to repeat. You might think they’re calling to you, inviting you to celebrate how the sun is delicately reaching its daily crescendo, sweet rays of light abounding. They’re not. Burros are burros. Uncouth and unapologetic, never considerate of you or me or the niceties of mother nature. And why should they? When I blush, they stroll toward me, swearing even louder with each step. Ears pinned back, they live to see the rise of color in my cheeks.
A prose poem by Mary A Koncel, a poet of #drywit & #whimsy. The author of two collections of #prosepoems, You Can Tell A Horse Anything (Tupelo Press), and The Last Blonde (Hedgerow Books), she loves her #burros, but it's not always peaches and cream.
Coping mechanisms are like duct tape on a sinking ship. They won’t fix the hole, but they’ll keep you afloat long enough to figure out Plan B.
