The world's worst traffic jam lasted 12 days. In August 2010, China's National Highway 110 became heavily gridlocked, trapping thousands of vehicles over a 100 km stretch. A miniature economy of sorts was created around the jam, as local villagers began selling water and food at steep prices to the stranded motorists, who could only move about 1 km per day and slept in their cars at night.
