I've gone with these birds that Google Lens identified as #Dunlins. They breed in Alaska and Arctic Regions and migrate South in winters.

I saw these birds in the Fort Fisher area. Online resources suggest they are dunlins. If true, they must be wintering in the coastal areas of North Carolina.
