Duwamish River in Washington State. The lower Duwamish is so polluted it is a superfund site. Polluted with PCBs, arsenic, and other carcinogens.

I see a lot of paraphernalia around Seattle for the #Duwamish tribe, and paying them rent for this stolen land. I think a lot of well-intentioned people do that. /1

We love that you acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, etc.
As we learned doing our Late Night w/ the Devil review, we write on lands traditionally stewarded by the #Duwamish and #Suquamish 🙏

Today we mark 174 years since the Denny Party landed at #Alki, The land’s beauty came from generations of care by the Duwamish. Settlers survived only with Duwamish support, then pushed them out. As we enter November, reflect on this history and seek ways to honor the #Duwamish community today.
The sun shone on Duwamish faces and their supporters as people gathered to observe Indigenous Peoples Day 2025 in Seattle. A bottle of nail polish sits on a pile of colorful autumn leaves. Through the clear glass it's a muted red-orange formula with black speckles. The bottle says VOYAGE Honor in white writing on a rectangular black label. This is my trithermal Honor which changes from a brownish shade to bold orange to soft grey with a pearly finish.
November is #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth 🧡 I just donated a little over $100 to the #Duwamish from sales of #VoyageHonor to help them achieve federal recognition and support their tribe.
Trithermal Honor is still available; 100% of the profits are donated 🎁

So selfish that they didn't know who Chief Seattle was as they built a metropolitan city around him, named it after him (which he didn't want), then didn't even bother to celebrate his life as he left this Earth. #seattle #duwamish #landback

Text says, “Duwamish Solidarity Group volunteers are available to talk to people at your event or meeting about Real Rent. We can host a table or make a brief presentation at your request and with enough notice. Contact us using the Real Rent Outreach Request Form.”

There is a beautiful street mural under the viaduct in Seattle, WA. Visual art continues to tell the stories of those who have been here long before us. Let us not forget that we are on pillaged land. We need to hear more indigenous stories.

t̓ałt̓ałucid Park (aka Overlook Park) at the Duwamish Waterway. The park features cogwheels alluding to the industrial time when there was a trolley bridge here. The black metal sign shows the trolley bridge and has the following text: The 6th Ave. Trolley Bridge was built in 1914, demolished in 1937 and connected South Park and Georgetown. The small building on the opposite bank of the river and the pump house for the Georgetown steam plant still visible today. The pump house was built for the Georgetown steam plant still visible today. The pump house was built after the Duwamish river was straightened and the steam plant was no longer next to the river. My father-in-law visited us and I took him on a #bicycle tour through #Renton, along the #Duwamish River to #WestSeattle. We ended up using 4 modes of transportation: #cycling, #waterTaxi, #bus, and #train (and a bit of walking). The bicycle is just a great way to explore the city.

Hey #RealRenters! If you’re like us, you smile when you see a #RealRent yard sign in your neighborhood or elsewhere “in the wild”, like at your favorite local shop or coffee spot. Let’s amplify this support for the #Duwamish Tribe and Real Rent by posting photos of signs spotted around town!

Chief Si'ahl is the first signature on the Point Elliott Treaty, signed Chief of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes
Today marks the 170th anniversary of the signing of the #TreatyofPointElliott in 1855, and still the United States government has yet to honor their promises by federally recognizing the #Duwamish Tribe. Chief Si'ahl (Seattle) is the first signature on the #PointElliottTreaty.
We actually *can* do the right thing. Tribal rights are not
'history", they are our current reality. If you're sad about it, take action.
Urge Biden to honor the Duwamish Tribe's treaty.
