Mealy Blue Sage has started showing off its blooms that soon enough will be buzzing with pollinators.
This is such an exciting part of the year. Seems every day brings a change, and new blooms.

I am happy for them to do their thing. Such a great annual with really intricate blooms.
Yarrow looks lovely at this time of the year. I planted one in the new garden late December and it is happy as can be and has grown already.

19 Monarch butterflies in the Pollinator Garden. I call it a good day.

I am amazed to see how much life this little patch of native plants has attracted and is able to support.

Today's highlights from the Pollinator Garden- Texas Gayfeather Liatris mucronata and Tall Goldenrod Solidago altissima. Both have very vibrant colors and both are fantastic for pollinators.

Great time to be planting. With cooler nights ahead, even on hot days, it is easier on the plants. And it is still enough time for the perennials to get established before the first hard freeze.

Early morning is my favorite time in the garden. It's cooler, there is usually lots of activity going on and the light is softer. Bumble bees are all over the Pollinator Garden this morning. (Featured on Azure Blue Sage - Salvia azurea).

Lindheimer's Senna and Indiangrass make a very attractive pairing. The golden seedheads of the Indiangrass really pick up on the yellow blooms of Lindheimer's Senna.

I planted this Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis) 'Bubba' in the Pollinator Garden in July 2023. The first photo was taken a couple of months after planting. The second photo was taken yesterday. Two years can make a lot of difference!

Havard's Agave (Agave havardiana) is a great, mid-size, cold hardy agave that is native to Texas. This one was planted last year, was unprotected during the freezes, and is doing just fine! Can't wait to see it grow.
