an ink drawing of a large clock book-ended by a horse and a dog. skulls line the bottom of the area. the clock itself is a reference to Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, which is the world famous passage about there being a time in life for everything. due to this, the clock has items like the following instead of numbers: die, live, mourn, love, uproot, plant, embrace, and refrain from embracing. the band "the byrds" wrote and performed a similar song based on the passage called "turn! turn! turn!"

Turn! Turn!“ trägt.

Ecclesiastes read as diagnosis, not consolation.

A closed system speaking plainly.

The main image is that of a large fallen tree at the corner where two streets meet. A few of the top branches are stuck in communication lines between telephone poles. To the right and behind the tree is a two story house which is undamaged. Along the pavement of the street in the foreground appears the last part of Ecclesiastes 11:3 KJV which is "and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be."

For real?? I quote that ALL the time. It's in, like, half of my film reviews.

I'm killing time while my headphones charge, and I've only just realized that the OG #Tremors #movie poster has one of our favorite #KCookandCatsCo quotes, the one from #Ecclesiastes

"They say there's nothing new under the sun..."

This #film was made for me. Hence, #MoviesThatMadeMe!

#Leviticus may forbid men to lie w/men as women, but nowhere does it forbid men to lie together as men. Far from it, #Ecclesiastes, 4: 11, even urges men to lie together & asks how else can they warm each other. #GayHistory #QueerHistory

Ecclesiastes 9:1–12 In the Shadow of Certainty Commentaries by Gianna French Works of art by Adolfo Wildt, Cy Twombly and Jessina Leonard

#Ecclesiastes 9:1–12 may make us uncomfortable. Bold in its questioning, it abandons traditional wisdom, the comforts we rely on when life seems unfair or painful.

Our Exhibition of the Week is called 'In the Shadow of Certainty':

Cy Twombly’s works often appear spontaneous and random, but his compositions are highly intentional, revealing a deep engagement with form, space, and rhythm.

It is precisely this duality—between chaos and control—that resonates with #Ecclesiastes 9:3–6:

#Ecclesiastes 9:11–12 reminds us of the limits of our knowing.

Jessina Leonard's project 'First Sweet Truth' explores our inherent desire and consequent failure to capture the ineffable.
