After the events of the TV movie Equestria girls 3 : Friendship games, Celestia and her sister Luna learned that Abacus Cinch, the headmaster of Crystal high school, had bribed the school board to keep quiet so that the students at her school could cheat in the Friendship games, and that she had kidnapped Twilight and Applejack and subjected them to profound humiliation. Determined to get her to confess at a social event held at Canterlot high school, Celestia and Luna enlisted the help of Sunset Shimmer and her friends who concealed microphones in the pearls of their necklaces to divert Abacus Cinch's suspicions while taking precautions to obtain evidence of this despicable woman's guilt. Unfortunately, what Celestia and Luna didn't anticipate was that confronting Abacus directly about her dishonesty would put them in the line of fire while they went to relieve themselves in the bathroom. They were knocked unconscious by a powerful dark magic spell, and when they awoke, they found themselves tied/gagged in Celestia's office closet. Now, the two sisters can only wait to be rescued by Sunset and her friends, as Rarity had taken the precaution of hiding a GPS chip in Luna's necklace pearl in case of a kidnapping attempt.
