Lourdes Grotto at Clairmarais in Clairmarais, France The replica of the Lourdes Grotto is located on the road leading from Clairmarais to Cassel. Around a bend, on your right, a strange rock beckons. Candles illuminate the rocky mass. The grotto was built near the former Saint Bernard Institution, once run by the Assumptionist Fathers. In 1934, the Reverend Father Superior fell seriously ill. The religious vowed to create a grotto for the Virgin Mary if he regained his health. The Fathers therefore undertook the construction of the grotto, which became a place of fervent prayer. Every year, on August 15, the feast of the Assumption, several thousand Christians gather throughout the day at the Clairmarais grotto to celebrate this holy day together. On Friday afternoon, the faithful of the region are expected in the meadow surrounding the grotto for a moment of sharing and prayer, before the traditional Marian vigil which ends with a torchlight procession.

Appeal to the Great Spirit Replica in Muncie, Indiana Sitting at a prominent intersection in Muncie, Indiana, this bronze statue, titled _Appeal to the Great Spirit_ , is a replica of the original located in front of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. At the Muncie site, a single plaque notes that the statue was placed in memory of Edward Burke Ball (1855–1925) by his wife and children. This copy was approved by Cyrus Dallin, who sculpted the original statue in 1908. Ball was one of the five Ball brothers who owned Ball Manufacturing in Muncie and produced the famous Ball home canning jars. While the original in Boston has been the subject of decades of artistic and cultural debate, Muncie’s replica stands quietly at a roundabout, serving as a curious echo of one of America’s most discussed sculptures. It’s a reminder that even fine art can be duplicated when local pride, and a little industrial wealth, are involved.
