5th island on our 10-day @RoyalCaribbean #ExplorerOfTheSeas cruise was Antigua which we had never visited.
The first stop was to the famous Shirley Heights lookout. WOW!

Third stop was Jacko Falls. We walked down about 70 steps, but the water flowing down into the clear pool was astounding. This was a highlight of the cruise.

The black sand is not sand at all, it’s actually finely ground-up lava rocks, courtesy of millions of years of volcanic eruptions. The “sand” absorbs heat very well and was very hot to walk on so make sure you have a beach towel or blanket to relax on. Luckily, the water was freezing!
That’s my cruise ship in the distance, did a transatlantic on Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas back in May 2024.
