Among Peggy Moffitt's collection of iconic Rudi Gernreich designs are a number of examples with prints designed by Tzaims Luksus in 1966. These bold and graphic prints paired perfectly with Gernreich's cutting-edge designs. Tzaims Luksus was born in Chicago in 1932 and is renowned for his highly colourful and luxurious fashion fabrics. As a young man he initially studied architecture before travelling to Europe, where he studied fine art in Venice, Florence, and Oxford. He became fascinated by textiles, both printed and woven, and learned hand-weaving on a trip to Greece. In 1961 he returned to America and set up his own textile weaving mill and printing studio in Vermont. In 1965 he received the first-ever special Coty Award given to a fabric designer.
