What do we want for Christmas 2026? #fairvotes

11 of the 12 MVMNWSurrey local group members present at the social event at the Wheatsheaf pub in Woking on 5th December 2026. Lots of smiling faces, MVM beermats held up, warmth, fun and hope!

One side of one of those MVM - branded beermats with a blend of colour from yellow at the top to purple at the bottom and including the following text and imagery in white: - "GETTING THE ROUND WRONG - WHAT WE WANTED:" (followed by an illustration of a round of drinks - 2/5 are soft drinks), "WHAT WE GOT:" (followed by an illustration of 5x soft drinks - an analogy for our broken FPTP voting system). "This is how UK elections work. You wouldn't expect it in a pub, so why is it OK for Parliament? makevotesmatter.org.uk"

PR is popular and should be explored by the government.

In fact it is supported by a majority of the Labour Party membership and by unions, and was voted for inclusion in the manifesto as far back as 2022 but ignored by the party leadership.

Please remind them that we need #FairVotes

Yeah we do desperately need #FairVotes... because I know Peter Campbell, the @greenparty.org.uk candidate, would make a really superb Councillor.

There’s a by-election in Wincheap Ward in Canterbury on 13th November. Guy Meurice the @libdems.org.uk candidate has the best chance of defeating Reform but as usual under FPTP there’s a real danger that a divided progressive vote will gift it to Reform! We need #FairVotes!
