Kostanskis DEATHSTALKER-Version ist wie die Einlösung eines Versprechens, das mit den vier DEATHSTALKER-Filmen zuvor gegeben, aber nie wirklich gehalten wurde. Er inszeniert entfesselt, derb und albern wie zu alten, undergroundigen Astron-6-Tagen, und das tut dem Stoff gut. #FilmFreitag #FFF2025

Mein Favorit beim diesjährigen FFF: DEATHSTALKER von Steven Kostanski. Tolle Kulissen, famose Monster, praktische Effekte, viel Humor und das ganze so fantasie- wie liebevoll zusammengerührt mit jeder Menge Gore (und ohne die Misogynie, die noch den Originalfilm prägte). #FilmFreitag #FFF2025
Beide Filme hatten gewisse Probleme mit dem Erzählfluss und waren etwas lang für das, was erzählt wurde. Trotzdem war ich froh für die Gelegenheit, zwei so schön gezeichnete Filme auf der großen Leinwand zu bestaunen! #FilmFreitag #FFF2025
Bei DOG OF GOD kommt das Rotoskopie-Verfahren zum Einsatz, das Meister Ralph Bakshi seinerzeit zur Perfektion brachte, und sorgt für eine gruselige Note. Bei NIGHTMARE BUGS fiel mir vor allem die sehr agile, für einen Trickfilme ungewöhnlich entfesselte Kameraführung auf. #FilmFreitag #FFF2025

Ich sah zwei Animationsfilme im Programm des FFF: NIGHTMARE BUGS aus Japan von Saku Sakamoto & Osamu Fukutani und DOG OF GOD aus Lettland von Lauris Abele & Raitis Abele. Beide Filme sind verstörende Kost und haben beizeiten wunderschöne, stilisierte Bilder zu bieten. #FilmFreitag #FFF2025

Ich sah unter anderem WE BURY THE DEAD von Zak Hilditch. Ein spannender, solider Zombiefilm mit einer tollen Daisy Ridley. Für Bestnoten fehlt jedoch trotz fies zähneknirschender Zombies die eigene Note. #FilmFreitag #FFF2025

It’s painfully obvious watching Satu - Year of the Rabbit that it came from a budding white filmmaker who loves Aachitpong and it would certainly achieve greater resonance under a Thai director. It is technically impressive and endearing as it is, though, if mostly for the 16mm photography.
