Title: such a beautiful thing to throw away by lady_mab Summary: "Do I really look like I'm in a position to get one over on you?" Ken asks, angrier than he means to be, and far more honest than he should be. There's that mix of emotion again, and Ken knows that it means Motomiya's too-big heart is at war with his common sense. That's a weakness that could get anyone into trouble. Ken doesn't need the Force to be able to influence him — just the right play on his compassion. But then Motomiya surprises him by saying, "I think you look like a man who is willing to lie and betray people who were only trying to help him." His voice is flat, empty where Ken's had been full of fire, but just as painfully honest. "What do you even stand for, Inquisitor?" The title, which normally inspires a sense of vindictive pride, is spat at the force field separating them. Ken feels it land, feels it drop into the hollow space inside of him that usually holds the well of the Force.
